Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was the first person in her age group to be awarded an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She is the daughter and student of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. She was a young girl who travelled between London in London and New Delhi. In New Delhi, she made her debut when she was only thirteen years old. She then moved into Encinitas CA, where she received the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha, who is only 17 years old, has had a successful performing and recording career. She is often seen performing together with her dad, and has performed with him for quite a number of years. She made Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The album was titled Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. Because she has performed on every major stage in across the globe, she's stage career has been extensive. Anoushka Shankar's career is not limited to music. In 2002, she released the book Bapi The Love of My Live this is a picture-based biography, which gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was a part in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her professional career, and there will be many other things to be expected from this talented lady. Anoushka was a frequent traveler and spent lots of traveling between London and Delhi during her young years. Then, she relocated to California to finish high school. From the age of nine she began her studies in music under her father making her performing first on the sitar four years later at his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad on his world tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts and making recordings together with George Harrison. To honor her position as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
